Gay Life and Love with Dogs
About Me & My Dogs
I’m Chris – a gay man who loves dogs! I have always been fascinated by the special bond between gay men and their dogs. So, I’ve decided to chronicle this relationship in a picture book that showcases gay men and their dogs from around the world. It is a project that documents the diversity of gay life and love with dogs. If you are a gay man (or couple/group of men) with a dog(s), please consider taking a few minutes to share how your four-legged friend completes your life by filling in this short survey.

When I grew up, I had two dogs - Natasha, an Afghan and then Brandy, an American Cocker Spaniel. Natasha was a bit daft, but beautiful. She would run away and couldn't manage to navigate her way back home. Brandy, on the other hand was cunning; smart enough to always hide the one thing you seemed to need. In my twenties, I got Winston - a rescue, black and white English Springer Spaniel. The poor boy was scared of his own shadow, and always cowered in mine.
Winston was the dog I had when I met my now husband, Ben. In many ways, I think Ben fell in love with Winston first, and I was just the lucky addition. Ben and I now have Mona, a Springer Spaniel. Everyone thinks she is named after Mona Lisa (she is as memorable), but in fact, she is named after the character on the 1980s TV comedy, Who's The Boss, because she is sassy and classy. Each of these dogs have made my life immeasurably better.

I suspect your dog(s) have done the same for you. That is why I am embarking on this project. To document and chronicle the many ways dogs enhance the lives of gay men. I hope you will consider joining me, and sharing with me why your dog makes your life better. I can't wait to read your stories and see your photos. I will collect these in a photo book anthology that showcases gay love and life with dogs.
